Ever had the desire to view a program back home while on the road? Well, most of us have, as did two brothers, Blake and Jason Krikorian. While traveling during the 2002 Major League Baseball season, they were forced to miss the best games that year and decided to find a solution. The Slingbox was born, and is now a part of the Echostar/Dish Network family of products.

The Slingbox is a TV streaming device which allows you to shift (or "sling") television shows from your TV or personal video recorder to a computer anywhere in the world. It means you can watch the latest episode of Coronation Street from a hotel room in Dubai, or catch up with The Wire in Madrid. You can even "sling" shows to your mobile phone, to watch on the move.

Slingbox was a clever creation that let people take their recorded shows and watch them on a laptop while traveling. It helped us move further along the path of getting our content anytime, anywhere. It introduced the concept of “place shifting” so that you never had to miss a show.

Before there was Hulu, there was Slingbox. This clever $250 set-top box broadcast your entire cable or satellite TV lineup, including DVR content, to your laptop or Windows Mobile smart phone over the Web.
