Working as part of our testing team, you will search for, investigate, report, and track issues. Your duties will include leading a team in insuring the scalability, availability, fault-tolerance of the next generation in video social networking products. Both black and white box testing following both existing test plans and test plans that you write, designing new test cases, operating and creating automated test suites, and analyzing defect reports.
Essential Responsibilities
- Test Sling Media software and hardware on a variety of operating systems, networks and devices.
- Basic experience with general practices and processes associated with test automation including test harnesses, infrastructure, and development (LoadRunner, WinRunner).
- Basic understanding of code release management and defect tracking processes and tools (Bugzilla, Testopia, DevTrack).
- Test production server rollouts and suggest rollout techniques to insure Quality and minimize customer impact.
- Light knowledge of Linux / Windows OS, Networking, SAN and NAS storage systems, raid arrays, relational databases (Oracle, DB2, MSQL).
- Working knowledge of SQL Databases (MySQL/Oracle) and light SQL script writing experiences.
- Interact closely with members of cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others, across time-zones.
Job Specifications/Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a QA Engineer on highly available, highly scalable, fault tolerant web-based services; ideally social networking and video collaboration sites.
- Experience testing commercial grade, multi-tiered web services which utilize firewall, load-balanced Internet services.
- Create test cases and test data in support of test plans.
- Utilize tools and applications to identify product defects.
- Analyze and investigate data integrity issues.
- Work alongside Product Management and Engineering to define product specifications, with an emphasis on testability along the dimensions listed above.
- Coordinate with QA Management to provide an ongoing view of product quality status.
- Highly motivated to solve problems quickly and completely; proven troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze problems by type and severity and understand complex relationships between various infrastructure components team player, high energy and positive attitude.
- Ideal candidate will have basic understanding of multimedia (Audio / Video) formats / codecs / containers / standards (MPEG-4 / H.264, WMA / WMV, etc.), and compression / conversion standards.
