Sling Media's award winning Slingbox turns any Internet-connected PC, Mac, or mobile device into your home television allowing you to watch your TV virtually anywhere in the world. The Sling Entertainment Group is a division of Sling Media and will deliver new applications and services enabled by the Slingbox's marriage of familiar TV programming and richly interactive web-connected devices.
As Senior Front-End Engineer you will develop technical solutions for complex user experiences. You will work collaboratively with Designers and Product Managers to conceptualize interfaces and work with Software Developers to determine engineering solutions. A Senior Front-End Engineer is responsible for drafting technical specifications for Flash/Flex and AJAX rich internet applications, developing the front-end code, and integrating these systems with server-side data (e.g. XML, JSON, SOAP/Web Services, Flash Remoting). The successful candidate will exhibit strong technical leadership and team collaboration skills.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in web development
- A minimum of 3 years experience writing object-oriented, class driven code
- Expert hands-on knowledge of HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, & AJAX
- Experience with JavaScript Frameworks & unobtrusive JavaScript techniques
- Familiarity with web standards and CSS-driven layouts
- Server side development experience (e.g. JSP, PHP, Ruby)
- Strong working knowledge developing cross platform/browser web applications (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
- Strong debugging, diagnosis, analysis, and problem solving skills
- Candidates should have significant Flash development experience including:
- Experience developing AS 3.0 and Flex 2.0 class based applications
- Streaming and progressive Flash Video delivery
- Flash Remoting (e.g., OpenAMF, AMFPHP)
- Flash/JavaScript communication
- Desirable Experience With:
- Ruby on Rails or comparable MVC framework
- Source control (CVS)
- Eclipse and Eclipse plugins such as FDT development.
