Sling Media is seeking a qualified candidate to help develop and ship new consumer hardware products that incorporate Slingbox place-shifting technology and related home media networking functionality. Sling Media’s products are focused on networked multi-media with an emphasis on high-quality streaming video. We are developing and shipping great products and a strong intellectual property portfolio with several products in the marketplace already. We have a world-class leadership team with extensive pedigree. The SPM STB position will report to the Director of Platform Product Marketing.
Responsibilities:
The SPM will be primarily responsible for developing the product requirements, product roadmap, product positioning and competitive analysis for direct-to-consumer hardware products, including Slingboxes, set-top boxes and accessories. The SPM will also be responsible for helping to coordinate the go-to-market strategy and to support our short and long-term deployment goals. In order to do this effectively, the SPM will need to understand the needs of the customer as well as be knowledgeable with any relevant competitive offerings. The SPM will work closely with the various engineering teams, local and out-sourced, to develop these products. Knowledge of back-end systems, application software, embedded client devices, streaming media, consumer marketing, consumer product marketing as well as OEM development scenarios will be helpful.
The SPM will work with various internal groups, including product management, marketing, customer support, engineering, and QA on product feature deliverables, primarily to ensure that the internal teams are working against a master schedule, identifying important cross-functional dependencies and prioritizing product development tasks accordingly. The SPM will also be required to work with outside vendors and suppliers, business and content partners and international deployment partners. The SPM will also be required to assist in the development of formalized beta programs.
Experience:
- Savvy product marketer with at least 5 years of work experience in a product marketing or product management capacity, preferably for consumer oriented products and services
- Entrepreneurial self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and seeks the challenge of rapidly changing marketplace
- Proven ability to meet and exceed quantitative goals and consistently meet deadlines
- Results-oriented, self-motivated team player and a professional presence
- Strong communication and persuasion skills, both written and oral
- Outstanding quantitative/analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient with MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project
