Sling Media is a digital lifestyle products company creating a family of consumer electronics products that are a natural extension of today’s digital lifestyle. The first member of the Sling Media family is the award winning Slingbox™, a device that allows consumers to watch and control their living room television at any time, from any location, via the Internet and a Windows based computer, PDA, or mobile phone. Sling Media is located in Foster City, CA.

Sling Media is currently seeking a full-time Director of Corporate Marketing. The Director of Corporate Marketing will report to the VP of Marketing. The Director of Corporate Marketing is responsible for providing leadership in Sling Media’s customer awareness, advertising and event management. The Director of Corporate Marketing has overall responsibility for researching, defining, and managing Sling Media’s global advertising programs, events, and collaterals. The Director of Corporate Marketing’s primary role is to define and manage global advertising programs used to establish the Sling Media and Slingbox brands and consumer awareness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and direct advertising policies and programs or produce collateral materials to establish awareness of and interest in Sling Media and Slingbox brands. Including:

  • Prepare budgets and submit estimates for program costs as part of campaign plan development.
  • Plan and prepare advertising and promotional material to increase sales of products or services, working with customers, company officials, sales departments and advertising agencies.
  • Assist with annual budget development.
  • Inspect layouts and advertising copy and edit scripts, audio and video tapes, and other promotional material for adherence to specifications.
  • Coordinate activities of departments, such as sales, graphic arts, media, finance, and research.
  • Prepare and negotiate advertising and sales contracts.
  • Identify and develop contacts for promotional campaigns and industry programs that meet identified buyer targets such as dealers, distributors, or consumers.
  • Gather and organize information to plan advertising campaigns.
  • Confer with department heads and/or staff to discuss topics such as contracts, selection of advertising media, or product to be advertised.
  • Confer with clients to provide marketing or technical advice.

    • Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.

    • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.

Customer and Partner Satisfaction

  • Travels domestically and internationally to meet with customers and attend industry conferences.
  • Follows up with sales, engineering, customers and partners regularly to ensure satisfaction with Sling Media solutions and product roadmap.
  • Acts as the key customer and market internal advocate for new product requirements and product related customer satisfaction matters.
  • Develops and delivers complex presentations and proposals to customers and partners to ensure understanding of Sling Media solutions.

Communication

  • Communicates market and customer needs for Sling Media products to other internal organizations to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develops industry and partner relationships at all levels and communicates accordingly.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Teams with cross functional departments to develop and implement product roadmaps, marketing programs, and customer sales strategies.
  • Supports the overall sales team in meeting their sales objectives through creation of new products, applications, product offerings, and support programs.
  • Supports other Sling Media organizations in the preparation and delivery of customer specific deliverables such as RFPs, bid proposals, and quotes.

Language Skills

  • Must be able to research and analyze industry periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, technical papers, and product datasheets.
  • Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Qualifications

  • Fifteen plus years of experience in Corporate Marketing, Product Marketing, or Advertising Agency experience required.
  • Prior experience with consumer electronics product development required.
  • International experience preferred.
  • MBA degree preferred; Technical degree and strong analytical skills preferred.
  • Must be able to research and analyze industry periodicals, professional journals, and product datasheets.
  • Must have the ability to formulate and write detailed budgets, creative briefs, and marketing program summaries.
  • Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Detail oriented - strong organizational/multi-tasking/prioritization abilities.
  • High level of communication both written and verbal.
  • High level of skill in public speaking as well as presentation.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, MS Project, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Avid interest in and a consumer of digital lifestyle products.
  • Travel required
